Casella Construction Adopts Full B2W Software ONE Platform

New England Heavy Construction Contractor Establishes Unified Solution
for Managing Estimating and Operations

Portsmouth, NH – April 17, 2018 -- B2W Software, a leading provider of heavy civil construction management software, announced today that Casella Construction has implemented the full B2W ONE Platform to manage estimating, scheduling, field performance tracking and equipment maintenance, as well as data capture and analysis.

Casella Construction is headquartered in central Vermont and completes a broad scope of work throughout New England and New York, including federal, state and municipal infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges and airports. The company also specializes in utility construction, commercial site development, demolition and dismantling, landfills and environmental remediation.

The potential to integrate all areas of the business and flow information across divisions prompted the software investment, according to co-owner and vice president John Casella. “The ONE platform addresses our biggest challenges: getting more efficiency out of our organizational efforts, gaining better insight into the work we do, and improving communication across our management, engineering, field and maintenance workflows,” Casella explains. “We’re capturing more information, moving it with more speed and using it to work smarter and more collaboratively.”

John Casella and his cousin, Joe, bought the family business in 2017 from their parents, brothers John and Doug Casella, who founded it in 1987. Before adopting the B2W platform, the company relied on a mix of spreadsheets and paper-based systems to manage estimating and operations.

“Without a backbone operational software, we relied on our accounting system to drive a lot of our operational processes, including job costing,” John Casella explains. “Those systems couldn’t really give us the specialized, field-centric functionality to manage estimating and operations in the most effective manner possible.”

B2W Estimate replaced spreadsheets at Casella. Along with added speed and accuracy, the ability to leverage the knowledge and logic within an estimate for future estimates has been advantageous. B2W Track has given the company better data from the field and made teams in the office processing that data faster, more accurate and more efficient.

B2W dashboards give employees at Casella high-level snapshots of live data that they can also drill down into when details are needed. “These visual learning tools are very beneficial, especially in the field,” says John Casella. “Seeing at a glance where you stand and where you need to be is a motivator that drives efficiency and performance.”

B2W Inform allows Casella to replace paper forms and processes for safety and other workflows. “Being able to report on the data – not just capture it more effectively – is the key advantage with Inform,” according to John Casella. “When everything is on paper, you have no way to generate reports other than to pour through paper forms and do it manually.”
